I have taken what one might call a peripatetic journey to arrive at psychiatry generally, and both child & adolescent psychiatry and addictions psychiatry, specifically.

Growing up, I knew if I attended medical school, I'd be destined to become the 13th doctor in my extended family. I fought the idea for nearly a decade after graduating from the University of Chicago with a BA in an esoteric branch of philosophy. During that time, I was a biophysics graduate student, NYPD Officer, and Wooden Boatwright. I also did technical work in astrophysics, IT, and ophthalmology. Approaching 30 years of age, I succumbed to fate, applied to, and attended medical school, itself quite a varied journey.

For over fifteen years, I've enjoyed what I do so much that it's difficult to justify calling it "work" at all. It is truly an honor to be entrusted with anyone's psychiatric care, as our minds are most fundamentally and nakedly who we are. Thank you for that opportunity--it is most humbling.
